Dear all,

Butterflies Cancer Support Group has a street stall on Saturday, 14th March 2020, at the United Church in South Street, Dorchester. Please, if you are able, we'd like some contributions for helping us with memorabilia to sell. If you are good at making cards, crocheting, or any other crafts, that would be great. Just message us on butterfliesdorchester@outlook.com and we will arrange collection/delivery. Thanks in advance if you can help!

Also, we're on the lookout for new ideas for speakers you'd like to see, any therapists that might be able to help out at Butterflies on a Weds afternoon and visits of places you'd like to go. Please again message us on butterfliesdorchester@outlook.com with any thoughts you have.

Kind regards

Tracee Cossey
(Butterflies Secretary)

Butterflies Newsletter 7th July 2020

Hello everyone, In between regular viewings of Frozen and Moana (both Disney) with my munchkin, I have been looking at selling ‘things’ (products) including oils and aloe vera products, amongst other ‘body-related’ and cosmetic products, including one by a ‘well-known high street retailer’ that does parties at home (obviously not right for the current situation but for the future) – it’s looking like I may have a partner-in-crime for said parties too...I have therefore been busy setting up Facebook and Instagram accounts and getting it all ready for the ‘off’. It has been fun honing my social media skills and I actually wore make-up for the school run this morning… Butterflies are looking to hold a socially-distanced picnic Wednesday meeting in Borough Gardens so we can all see each other in person, which will be really welcome. Obviously, this activity will be weather permitting, so when it picks up a bit, we’ll send out an invite through our message alerts on the Butterflies system.

Hello Everyone, Welcome to our latest newsletter. Still not exactly resting on my laurels (although probably the most rested I’ve been for some ten years), I’ve nearly completed a Project Management course and gained ‘postgraduate’ status in the travel training industry from Travel University. I love certificates! In other news, I’ve entered miss mini-me into ‘Mini Miss Virtual Ireland’ (she has Irish blood, and there were lots of entries for Miss England/UK so has more chance of success).

Butterflies Newsletter 1st June 2020

Hello Everyone, Well, today is the start of Summer but it feels as if it was here already. That’s one thing, after our long somewhat laborious winter and the rain, rain, rain, the sun during lockdown has been very much welcome. We’ve just bought a new paddling pool so that keeps things real! (a new life hack, if you have children/grandchildren – cover the top of the water with bin bags in the morning. The black will draw the heat in and will keep the pool warm all day. It actually works, I’ve tried it). One new and helpful development during this period is Butterflies’ potential to offer free counselling sessions from the comfort of your home. Corinne, a counsellor who has worked successfully with us before, wants to be able to help us out in this time of lockdown and confusion about what is or isn’t safe as well as the uncertainty over our future “new normal”. In the current circumstances, the training organisation she works with allows her to offer those sessions on the phone, Zoom or Face Time. If you are interested in getting in touch with her, please forward an email to traceecossey@gmail.com with the contact details you’d wish to pass on and and I will send on to Corinne to get in touch. The sessions will be completely free, confidential and supervised by an outside counsellor/supervisor that Corinne will be consulting regularly.
